Frequently Asked Questions
The information below applies only to Therapy sessions. Contact me for more details about Coaching sessions
Where will the sessions take place?
I offer online sessions to both UK-based and international clients. Your weekly sessions will be at the same time and day each week – this time will be set aside for you, and we will not use the time for any other purpose. I know life can get hectic, so I am happy to discuss more flexible alternatives for sessions during the morning and day. Each session lasts 50 minutes.

What does the first session look like?
The first therapy session tends to be a little different than the following ones. In the first therapy session, I introduce myself, explain how therapy works if it’s your first time, I talk to you about confidentiality and therapy fees, and ask you some questions about yourself and your life in general. After that, you can tell me, in your own words, what you would like out of therapy, and we will work together to develop some short and long-term goals. Also, it is space for you to ask any questions and discuss any concerns or fears about starting therapy.

How many sessions will I need?
The number of sessions you require will differ from person to person, depending on your current situation and your emotional process. Short-term work comprises typically between 6-12 consecutive sessions and is likely to focus on a specific problem or goal. Depending on your needs, long-term sessions are recommended to work with underlying emotional concerns and behaviour patterns. We will discuss the length of our work at the initial appointment, and we will together set achievable goals within a set period of time. Therapy is not meant to last forever but support you in building an inner capacity, practical tools and sense of empowerment to move through your life with a renewed sense of awareness and quality of life.

How does confidentiality work?
Our sessions, and everything we cover, are 100% confidential. There are very rare limits to this confidentiality- if there is a serious risk of harm to you or someone else. On these rare occasions, if possible, this will be openly stated by me in our sessions.

How much does it cost?
My online sessions are 70£ for a 50-minute session. Please reach out if your financial situation is a limitation, and we can discuss sliding scale rates.
Is there a cancellation policy?
Yes, I need 5-days notice of cancellation otherwise, the full amount is charged. I offer flexible rescheduling options and alternative arrangements.

How do I know if you’re the right therapist for me?
I always encourage individuals to come to an initial session to see if I feel like the right therapist for you. Coming to an initial session is an opportunity for you to ask any questions and see how the session feels for you. There is no obligation to continue after an initial session. My therapy sessions are affirming, judgment-free, and safe spaces for clients of diverse genders, sexualities, identities, relationships, lifestyles & practices. You can also arrange an initial free 15-minute chat with me over the phone.

I am not sure if my problem is bad enough to justify coming to see you?
If you’re asking the question, you should at least take some time to schedule an initial consultation and talk to a therapist. I believe there are no “right” or “wrong reasons” to start therapy. I believe everyone benefits and deserve a accepting and non-judgmental space, separate from rest of your life, to explore your unique internal landscape and relationships with others. Doing this exploration work can lead to much deeper understanding about our emotions and patterns, and create space for meaningful change and more clarity. I also offer sessions focusing on self-development, integration and relationship coaching.

Is it normal to feel nervous to reach out or before our first session?
Yes, it is normal to feel nervous about therapy. There are several reasons why it might feel challenging to reach out and start something new. The therapeutic relationship is a relationship like any other in that it takes time to establish trust. All our conversations are confidential and you will always have choice and control over the process and the topics you feel comfortable discussing. I also encourage you to share your concerns and any questions you might have with me during our initial session, and I can help you explore this anxiety and uncover some of the concerns and fears that underlie it. Please reach out to me to ask any additional information that would help you to make a right decision for you. Also arranging a free, non-committal 15 minute phone call is a good way to ask any questions or discuss your concerns or fears.
